The Herpes Virus is one of the most common virus’ in effecting our society today. It is estimated that over 75% of the worlds population carries one of the many types of herpes.

Cold sores that affect the mouth area are the most common type of herpes, HSV-1. HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) also comes in the form of HSV-2, or better known as genital herpes.

Herpes symptoms can vary greatly from person to person.  Often people who have herpes will never develop any sores.  The primary herpes infection is a term used for the first time you have an outbreak of herpes, and this is usually the worst outbreak a person will ever have.  Sometimes it comes back every few months, but not as strong and sometimes it never comes back. 

The main symptom of herpes are blisters or small red bumps that break open and cause small red sores, some times they can be painful and usually they are itchy.

Facts about genital herpes:

  • Genital herpes is an STD or STI and can be transmitted fairly easily through oral, vaginal and anal sex.
  • The majority of people with genital herpes don’t know they have it.
  • There is no cure for genital herpes.

  • Genital herpes can spread even when no sores are present
  • Genital herpes can be passed to a newborn upon birth
  • If you have genital herpes, its not the end of the world
