Cold sores that affect the mouth area are the most common type of herpes, HSV-1. HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) also comes in the form of HSV-2, or better known as genital herpes.
Herpes symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. Often people who have herpes will never develop any sores. The primary herpes infection is a term used for the first time you have an outbreak of herpes, and this is usually the worst outbreak a person will ever have.
